Dubnica is an industrial town with over 25 000 inhabitans. It is situated in the West of Slovakia, on the banks of River Vah, between Trencin and Povazska Bystrica.

Much of the old town was destroyed during the WW2. Dubnica has developed mainly after the war, when a new havy machinery factory (ZTS) was build. The population of the town grew consequently.
